Meet our team of expert accountants

Adrian Huston

 

General Commissioner for Income Tax; Stephen Newnes  

Adrian has an accountancy degree from the University of Southampton. He started his working life with Ernst & Whinney Chartered Accountants in Belfast (Now Ernst Young) before moving to the Inland Revenue. He was brought up on the family farm between Coleraine and Portrush. An old boy of Coleraine Academical Institution he was President of Coleraine Old Boys' Association (COBA) from 2006-2008.

Adrian established Huston and Co Tax Consultants in 1992 having been a Tax Inspector. He specialises in tax advice, tax planning and Corporation Tax issues and has a wide range of corporate and personal tax clients. He appears regularly on TV, radio and in the written media commenting on tax and related issues.

Outside work Adrian was a member of the Police Authority for Northern Ireland, a TA Officer in the Royal Military Police and a director of the Odyssey Trust Company Ltd - owners of the successful Belfast entertainment venue. He is a Justice of the Peace, and sits on the panels hearing Industrial Tribunals as well as being a director of NI-CO . NI-CO provides technical assistance worldwide using Northern Ireland expertise from the public sector. Adrian is also a partner in The Huston Family Farm near Coleraine where the family has farmed for about 200 years. He and Felicity now let out The Huston Farmhouse Portrush www.hustonfarm.com

Adrian is very well-known in Northern Ireland for his tax column in the Belfast Telegraph and has become the best known tax adviser in Northern Ireland.

 


Felicity Huston

Felicity was brought up in Portadown and Belfast and is a graduate of Nottingham University. A former Tax Inspector, she joined Huston & Co as a partner in 1994.

Felicity specialises in advising clients who find themselves investigated by HMRC for potential tax fraud.

As well as her role in the practice she has extensive non-executive experience, including as a Non-Executive Director of a plc.

In 2000 the then Prime Minister appointed her a member of the House of Lords Appointments Commission.  She served as a Commissioner until 2008. by the Prime Minister from 2000-2008. This Commission is Responsible for recommending Cross-Bench Peers to the House of Lords.

From 2005 until 2011 she was the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.

Felicity is currently a lay member of the Queen's Counsel Selection Panel for England & Wales. She has also been performing a similar role in Northern Ireland.

 


 


Nadene Mackrel

 

Chief Administrator for Overseas Clients  

Nadene has been with the company since 2007 and acts as our chief administrator and client service co-ordinator UK and overseas clients.

She also administers PAYE for clients who are employers.
