Adrian Huston
Adrian was brought up on the family farm between Coleraine and Portrush. An old boy of Coleraine Academical Institution he was President of Coleraine Old Boys' Association (COBA) from 2006-2008. With his accountancy degree from the University of Southampton, he started his working life with Ernst & Whinney Chartered Accountants in Belfast (Now Ernst Young) before moving to the Inland Revenue.
Adrian established Huston and Co Tax Consultants in September 1992 having been a Tax Inspector with the Inland Revenue where he worked for 6 years. He specialises in tax advice, tax planning and Corporation Tax issues and has a wide range of corporate and personal tax clients. He appears regularly on TV, radio and in the written media commenting on tax and related issues.
Outside work Adrian was a member of the Police Authority for Northern Ireland from 1997 to 2001 and a TA Officer in the Royal Military Police. He was made a Justice of the Peace in 1995. He was from 2004-2008 a director of the Odyssey Trust Company Ltd - owners of the successful Belfast entertainment venue. See www.theodyssey.co.uk
Adrian currently sits on the panels hearing Industrial Tribunals and is a director of NI-CO www.nico.org.uk which provides technical assistance worldwide using Northern Ireland expertise from the public sector. Adrian is also a partner in The Huston Family Farm near Coleraine where the family has farmed for about 200 years.
Adrian is very well-known in Northern Ireland for his weekly tax column in the Belfast Telegraph's Business Telegraph. He has been writing this column for over 14 years and as a result has become the best known tax adviser in Northern Ireland. Felicity was brought up in Portadown and Belfast and is a graduate of Nottingham University. Felicity is a former Tax Inspector, she joined Huston & Co as a partner in 1994.
As well as her role in the business she holds several non-executive director posts. She was appointed a member of the House of Lords Appointments Commission by the Prime Minister from 2000-2008. This Commission is Responsible for recommending Cross-Bench Peers to the House of Lords.
Felicity was a General Commissioner of Income Tax until 2009 and former Hon Treasurer of Belfast Charitable Society - Clifton House. In August 2005 Felicity was appointed as the Commissioner for Public Appointments Northern Ireland. See www.ocpani.gov.uk Stephen Newnes
Stephen Newnes joined Huston and Co in 2000 after running his own small business.
His earlier background was in payroll and he now handles in PAYE issues, accounts preparation and overseas contractors.
Nadene Mackrel
Nadene works in reception and handles client administration and credit control.
